I've been using the Apachetoolbox to compile my Apache+PHP+MySQL+modules for years.

I've come to find that I now spend hours fighting to get past library issues with newer distributions since Apachetoolbox has largely stopped being maintained, IMHO.

Anyone recommend a way to compile Apache and PHP plus modules from source?

I use the RPMs that come with my distribution. If they don't fit my needs, I get the source rpm and rebuild the RPMs, though the stock distribution is actually quite good in Fedora. The only RPM I have on my systems that isn't stock is Postfix because I need mysql support.
