Can someone help me understand what is required to compile Red Hat's enterprise sourse code

I'll look at the info and install the software. Just for grins how would I go about using the source code from the Red Hat FTP site? Just wanted to know if I run out of things to do on a weekend. I think it would make me a better technical person

You need to be more specific in what you want. RedHat's install process does not contemplate that you are compiling anything. Neither does their package management.
