compile c programs problem

Dear Friends

I wanted to compile c program in my machine using :
cc
but It said that the package is not installed and I can not install the package because I am not root.

The administrator think it is not important (audio software) but I need it and he will not install.

Please help

Your administrator is probably right, assuming he/she has good reasons. Solaris doesn't come with it's own compiler, it's a chargeable extra from Sun. That said, gcc from sunfreeware.com is a more than adequate replacement. Now it's up to you to be persuasive!!
