I just downloaded the demo version of Crystal Report XI.
I need to know before I go further, if I can create a report in the developper version and distribute the report template for use on another computer. Assuming that the user do not have crystal installed.
This report will read data from an .mdb DB that will change overtime, and I would like the user to be able to read the changed data when it is necessary without having to recreate another template report.
Thanks in advance.

Crystal lets you export the report output to Word, Excel, PDF etc. You can then distribute it to users who don't have Crystal.

What you can't do is enable then to run the Crystal report without having Crystal installed. The software owners make their living selling licences, so of course it's not made possible to manage without.

PS. I think it used to be possible to compile Crystal, but that was stopped long ago. It happened with older versions that are no longer sold and probably would not run on current machines.

I asked the question, because it seems to me that this was possible years ago. I guess I will have to find another software if it cannot compile or do not offer a runtime version.

There is also Crystal Enterprise: worth a look, thought I've no idea of the costs.

All you need is a crystal report viewer, which allows the user to execute the crystal reports, but not to edit them. There are lots of choices and they are all reasonably priced, but my favorite is DataLink Viewer by Millet Software.
