I have an old customer who has 6 - 8 locations and they are entertaining MPLS to tie it all together. The various service providers have also offered hardware in some cases.

Shoretel is in there and I wanted to "fairly" compare them to IPO and offer the advantages or disadvantages accordingly without being a mud slinger.

Also, some of the sites are 4412 magix sites where I could use this as investment protection.

Even if they trash those and go with all new sets, I was going to suggest digital sets in house, for ease of install, wire reuse, less network interaction as they have IT people, but are spread thin.

Do you feel I am doing a dis-service to my customer if I push them to stay DS (i.e. 9508) rather than IP (i.e. 9608) just for ease of maintenance, sound quality, etc. My pitch being that you don't ned to maintain two in house networks if the DS sets do the job.

So it's the Shoretel thing and the DS advantage where possible.

Thoughts appreciated.

There are loads of displacement documents on Avaya vs. Shoretel on the Avaya competitive portal.

ACSS - SME
ACA - Implement IP Telephony

I always push Digital over IP when it fits, for the reasons you mentioned :)
