I wanted to eliminate 206 and Processor R4.1 modules at a client's Partner. The exisiting system uses two 206's, one 400, Processor 4.1 and Voice Mail VS R5.0.

Replacing it with a ACS R7.0 reusing the Voice Mail R5.0 and the old five slot carrier.

The VS R5 would not power up in any slot. I was using an older Partner five slot carrier. I removed the Partner five slot carrier and installed an ACS Carrier, same issues, I tried a two slot ACS carrier. Same issue.

I brought the R7.0 to my office work station, installed the R7.0. I did not have a VS R5.0 so I used a VS R4. Works great.

Is their a compatibilty issue with the VS R5.0?

Did you have the voicemail ports programmed into hunt group 7 at that point? It will do strange things without them programmed.

Also, you will lose the ability to use DND with mailbox user, for calls transferred from the auto attendant. Calls will hit the extension in DND, and not get the proper mode codes, which will cause them to "transferring to receptionist". If you put Ext. 10 in DND as well, then you get an infinite loop! There was a patch made available, but good luck finding it and a linear flash card to apply it these days.

I did not program the vm ports into hunt group 7. I will try that. Do you think it is a ACS processor R7.0 plus VS R5.0 relationship? As I stated earlier in my post the ACS R7.0 works beautifully with a VS R4.0. I do need the R5.0 for the dual Auto Attendants.

I might have to go a different direction, ACS R6.0 with a VS R5.0. Your thougths?

I was able to get into the R5 Voice Mail module using the existing R4.1 processor. The R5 is actually a R5.0.21. The R7 processor will not boot up the R5.0.21 module. Any thoughts?

I would try #728 (reset/save all) and see if the voicemail is recognized after the reboot. Failing that, I would do a #989 factory reset to see if it comes up, and if it does, do a manual backup (#124) immediately.
