Hi ..

I want to migrate Avaya Aura to IPO Server Edition, the customer have the Avaya 6416D+M Telephone

I see the following regarding this phones

The Avaya 6416D+M Telephone is compatible with Definity R6.1 or higher
Also compatible Avaya IP Office: IP Office R7.0 - IP500 control unit must be running full IP Office mode. Not compatible in Quick mode; IP Office R8.0 or higher - IP500 control unit must be running Essential Edition. Not compatible in Basic Edition.

is this will work with Server Edition or not .

Thanks

The 6416D+M works on R11.X 'on-premise' solution so I can't see any reason why It wouldn't work on Server Edition, but as you note above, it's not supported and you may run into compatibility issues down the track.

The only way to know for sure is to test in a LAB environment. I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks, Tim

@ tac84. Ypu don't see any reason why it wouldn't work??

Well..

Because..

- 64xx phones are digital phones, which needs digital ports that the server edition does not have.
- 64xx are old phones, and not supported on R11

@ Brian.
Do yourself a favour. Dump these phones and sell the customer some decent J100 series phones.

@Okkie26: But I have IPO500v2 Gateway and have digital ports.

The user experience is different between Aura and IPO. Using an old (unsupported) digital phone which looks the same but acts completely different will be very confusing. Rip off the bandage completely and deploy new phones. They will look different and act different. If cost is an issue, take advantage of the DAAS (rental) program.

Support for 6400 phones ended at R6.1

How many phones are you looking at?

@Okkie26 - Yeah, I'm aware they're digital. I've used them on R11 and did say they're not supported. He also can use them using a 500V2 Gateway.

Thanks, Tim
