Hi,

Please advice what are the tools available to compare the version of a Oracle form v4.5 or Oracle report v2.5 programs.

Rationale behind is to prevent unauthorised changes to programs however by going through the screens or the designer it is rather tedious. That is I need to ensure that the person making program modification modifies only the essential areas & do not modify the programs fraudulently or accidentally as compared with what is requested by the user & also an earlier version of that same program. This is to serve as a check to ensure quality work is done.

Please recommend suitable tools for this purpose.

Thanks.

Regards
Benjamin

I've never heard of tools which do this, the only way I know if is to export the files to REX and FMT for reports and forms respectivly, Version control tools such as PVCS and SOurceSafe can do a diff on the files. The output is still a little tricky to read though.

Thanks for the advice.

Are they freewares?

Benjamin

Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe might get packaged free with something, but I doubt it, PVCS is certainly not free, but in my opinion a better product.

Check out there websites, Visual SourceSafe must be under the microsoft homepage somewhere and you can check out PVCS at
I don't know of any freeware ones, you could try searching the Software Configuration tools as that is what they are, but I'd be surprised if you could find one.

Anyway hope this helps,

Mike.
