I've recently finished a long contract developing reports using Impromptu. To be honest I didn't like the product much as I found it too restrictive.

An opportunity has now come up where I would be using ReportNet. I know ReportNet is the report server that Cognos has to deliver reports through web technology. I'd be interested if the architecture is the same as for Crystal, ie develop reports in Crystal Reports and deliver through Crystal Enterprise. Is the Report writing tool in ReportNet just Impromptu or is there are more advanced tool in ReportNet? Can anyone point me to a list of features or a comparison with Crystal Enterprise?

Thanks.

I'm so glad I'm not the only programmer who doesn't like this product. Crystal is much more user friendly.

Cognos Reportnet is a totally seperate product from Impromptu.

Reportnet is completely web based, the reports are designed in a web application called report studio and delivered to users using report manager.

you can find more out here.
