comparing strings with spreadsheet

Hi i have a spreadsheet with id numbers e.g
acm1001
acm1002
....
acm4040.
I also have a text file with various different id's aswell. How can i compare the two and if there is a match print it out.Im using the spreadsheet-parseexcel module but the examples that come with it are hard to understand.Can anybody show me the light of day!!!Thanks
