Hi all,

I am in a battle to win a job where I will install 52 MLX-10DP phones hanging off of the latest 2.2 MAGIX and a Merlin Messaging 2.5. The reason for the MLX is for the Voice over busy announce.

Telrad is sporting an ability to conference 8 outside parties. Is this true? Are they adding a third party conference bridge? Also call screening and call record. Some of the other features they have we probably can't touch, but my customer wants multi party conferencing, and I could provide it with a 3rd party bridge hanging off of an 016 (or 2 for TTRs). Any thoughts on whether I should keep plugging for this or if the Telrad Avanti is simply the better way to go. Thanks in advance!!

Ask the customer who has the better track record in the PBX industry, who will be around, and so forth. On a Magix, you can conf 5 total (your ext + 2 inside and 2 outside.
One little kicker that you have that the cheapie's don't is a slick voice mail system. FOR NO EXTRA CHARGE, (an Avaya novelty in itself), you get a web-enabled voice mail system that anyone can get that "shows" who called and the caller ID, if subscribed. Push this to the IT folks, and you'll get your sale. If the outside part conference is such a thing, (will they have enough trunks to tie up 8 and still run the business?) just buy the feature on demand from Telco.

Will Avaya really still be around? Have you seen their stock price recently. The switch is bulletproof but the PC interface is antiquated and snail slow. Our primary equipment line is Iwatsu and it puts Magix to shame! I'd also look at NEC and Nortel.
