Hi ,
I forget to ask one more question:
Because of the denied access to database tables,I need to copy tables to another location in order to work on them (make reports). Some table are very big and copying takes time.Is there another way :can tables be compared and new record added insted copying all records.Do I have to copy .cdx and .fpt files every time or only .dbf files.
Thanks again,
Lyn

Lyn,

The only reason you would be denied access to a table is if it was opened exclusively somewhere else. If the table is not needed exclusivley, use the SET EXCL OFF command and you will be able to access the table. Otherwise, you will not be able to copy the table to another location anyway. You will only need the .cdx file if you are going to set an index to the table.

SET EXCL OFF is necessary, but not sufficient.
If user change table,
file is temporary locked by OS.
If other user at the same time require change,
"File access denied" error succeed.
