I've only been a member of this forum for a few days and have already found it helpful. Thanks to all.

I'm wondering if it is acceptable to ask for product comparisons here. If so would anyone care to comment on the relative merits of ICE.tcp from James River vs. FacetWin from FacetCorp for TCP/IP terminal emulation and file transfer.

If this kind of post is not permitted please excuse me and disregard. Lee B. Walker

Don't worry leefp1, i don't think this will cause any inconvenience here. We are all here to share info.

I may not be answering to your questions, but have you ever tried to use Alpha Communicator ? It's a wonderful small program which allows so many stuff that you won't beleive. And most, the cost is very cheap ! Previously i was using TunEmul ( from Esker ),it work good, but the price is....WOW.... I have got around 110 users and i can't afford that much in licenses. But AlphaCom is much appropriate and affordable.

I think the link ( maybe..i can't recall it ). Try the search engine and you'll get it straight through.

Hope that helps.
Regards.

One work of interest...Facetwin is a nice tool, and I have used it in the SCO, IBM<-AIX, and Linux environments...but one small word of caution...Printers are a pain in the butt to work with in Facetwin.

I have a couple of shell scripts designed to reset teh Facetwin spoolers using the fct_rladm commands just to speed up the porcess..

As for Ice..well lets just say its no world beater, but functional..
