Hello everybody,

I am kind of new to javascript, so if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a text field, where a user would enter a username, and when the user clicks on "check if available", if that username is already in the data base, I need to give an alert with a message to think of another value.

Client side scripting does not have access to anything done server side and vice versa unless you perform a <form> submission. You'd have to have some kind of server side script, like PHP, ASP, or CGI, to process the name and check it against the database before responding.

Hi FesterSXS ,
No I am not using any ASP.
