Hi all,

We have an Oracle 8.1. db and a Server Model in Oracle Designer 6i. The model is pretty outdated and I need to bring it back in sync with actual db (db objects as well as administration objects such as users, roles, etc). I would not want to simply reverse-engineer the db into Oracle Designer, because then I would loose whatever little documentation info I still have in the Server Model.

What's the best way to do it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Designer 6i has a compare feature. I don't have Designer anymore, and don't recall exact steps for using the compare feature, but I have used it in the past. It will do what you want. It can be used two ways:
1. read your database to capture what is not already in the server model.
2. read your server model and publish what is not already in the database.
Good luck.
