Hi,
We have a CheckPoint-1 (4.1 SP3) firewall installed. We have heard that it inspects only the first four layers of the OSI model. We are trying to decide whether to migrate to the Symantec "Gateway" product or upgrading to the Checkpoint "Next Generation" release.
We understand the upgrade to "NG" is difficult and Symantec insists that it outperforms "NG". Symantec also provides a few other built in services such as: Content filtering, URL traffic scanning, Spam blocking, and limited intrusion detection.
Money is not the issue; both are comparable in total price (we are about to renew annual maintenance contracts).
What is your advice and, are there any testing sites that provide unbiased analysis of these two very good products?
Thanks,
Ken
