Hi to all!
Working on the following:
*Compaq Presario 5100R / Win ME / Duron 750 / Nvidia AGP video card / 192MB RAM

1)Performed system recovery with recovery cd, all went well, all critical updates performed for ME

2)Problem: cannot adjust video setting to 800*600, stuck on 640*480

This is a listed problem with compaq (found through google) after using recovery CD. I downloaded the driver (as suggested) from the hp/compaq site for the video card, installed, and it is still stuck on 640*480.

Any ideas here? Thanks in advance!!

Go to nvidia's site and down the latest official driver. I deeply dislike recovery CDs, all too often I find the installation awkward, crash-prone and full of trash.
In any case, with an Nvidia card you should be saved by the remarkable stability of their driver set, and the ease of use due to the unified driver architecture.
I have been using Nvidia cards since the TNT2, and I have never been disappointed or had a problem. As long as I had an official driver, that is.

Your solution should be here :

Hey pmonett!
Thanks for the info, but the download didn't work either. I fully agree that these "recovery" or "restore" CDs aren't worth the price of the CD ROM they are written on. Thanks again!

Funny... most drivers come with the information that will make this work on most monitors. I had the same problem you are having at work. I needed to go to the monitor companies web site and get the drivers for the monitor. Give it a try.. Hope it works.
