I just purchased an hp storeageworks today. model is Model 4354R. I have a few questions on it. The servers I have are an HP DL585 and a few dell poweredgee 2950s. Question one is since this has an ultra 3 interface with the scsi cable out on it how do I connect this to my network. It has a network port on it that is labled LCD only. Is there a way to just hook this up to my switch or do I need to get a scsi cable and a pci card for the server? My second question is do all the disk I put in there need to be the same size and rpm? I have a wide variety of them from 146gb and down. Can I mix 4 of one and 6 of another?

Thanks

You will need an raid array controller if you plan on useing the raid feature. and a scsi cable. if your MSA4354R is single bus I/O module youneed on2 scsi cable and you can see all 14 bays. but if it is a dual bus I/O module you need to have two scsi cables and two external scsi ports on the HP DL585 to be able to use all 14 bays wich will be a 7/7 split. you will also need to use the HP Smart cd to setup the raid controller.

hope these help!
