Just recently, I have gad a call concerning the Compaq SSL2020 with a possible problem, here I will give you the solution and the solution to the solution.
The problem was this, Backup Exec would see the SSL2020 as 2 different devices, a robotic arm and the tape drive(s) and was unable to use them together (it was as if they were in different boxes). The solution was to upgrade the SSL2020 firmware from 4.00 to 4.16, at which point the SSL vanished from BE's sight. The solution here was to edit the name in the firmware that the library presented to Backup Exec (It thought it was an SSL1000!).
There you have it, the possible problem, the solution and the solution to the solution. If BE does strange things with your SSL series library, keep the above in mind.
