we have a compaq server that has an existing compaq (sony) SDT-9000 dat dds3 12/24gb tape drive in it that is working.

i have brought a new dell power edge server 600sc which has a scsi hd only.

the dell came pre configured.

i have removed the dat drive from the compaq server and and tried to place it into the dell server with no joy.

i have not chaged the jumpers on the back of the dat drive.
i only have one scsi cable

can anyone help.

Dear Manish,

Please check the SCSI LUN ID of the Dell Servers HDDs, It should not conflict with DAT SCSI ID. Try to install the correct driver for the SCSI card. It might possible that the driver for DAT drive is not loaded because the server came pre-configured with the OS. Best Regards,
Mukul Dutt

Does the tape drive show in the POST? If it does, then it's a driver issue, if it doesn't then it's either an ID or a cable issue. Let us know which, and one of us can talk you in from there.
