I hope someone out there can help me out. Here goes.
I have a Compaq Proliant 5000 series with (4) 4.3gb HDDs and running 512MB in RAM Windows NT Server 4.0 is the OS but I may want to install Windows 2000 Server. Problem, I wanted to improve on video cards (from the on board 2 - 4mb to maybe an 8mb video card that can be installed on the PCI ports) so I can see at least in the 256Color range since the default was only 16 colors. After a month no problems occurred until I heard this beeping sound which indicated the server rebooted itself. This would go on every 3mins.
I contact HP/COMPAQ support and they walked me through the system erase and the array configuration utility which erased and configured everything all over the system. I re-loaded NT and it seemed to work fine I found a better driver for the card that I wanted to install and everything worked ok. The NIC was cool and I was able to established the domain and connect to the other systems in my lab.
I was thinking this was a software issue but now could this be hardware related? Even removing the video card and connecting to the integrated board it still reboots on occasion and thus sometimes not giving me video.
Can someone give me a clue? or should I just trash it?
