Hello all,

I am running Red Hat 9.0 on a Compaq Proliant 3000r.

I recently installed a second CPU (PII 450, same as the first CPU). I therefore upgraded the kernel to SMP.
Grub is used as the bootloader.

On rebooting the server, grub uses F10 to select which kernel (partition) to use.

Now I cannot get into the compaq smartstart (F10) ????

Anyone have any ideas. Thanks Peter

Don't know Linux at all but have you checked that CPU's are same stepping level?
Mismatched steppings can cause a lot of weird problems.

I have the same configuration.
You probably have a solution by now. But I thought I would post anyway !!

I use my system configuration utlity disk (1 of 4) and reboot with the disk in the floppy drive.

The utility will them ask if you would like to use the system configuration or the booted disk. Select the system configuration and you are set.
