compaq presario will not open anything in normal mode only in safe

I have a compac presario that i recently purchased off of a friend. I can not get it to open anything IE: internet explorer my documents, etc.... It will open in safe mode however. any clues as what to try it only started this after reformatting.

Did it work okay after the reformat, and then started after you made changes?

Have you tried running MSCONFIG, go to the startup tab, and uncheck all background applications? Hit ok, and reboot.

nope it was freezing so i reformatted it thats when it started not opening anything any suggestions?

Sorry for the late reply, but try running fdisk, then format, then reinstall the OS one more time. Don't load drivers, see how things run from a clean repartition and reformat.
