Working on a compaq presario 5441, has been sent to service centers 5 times for repair, they replaced Quantum hard drives twice and once again, has problem with hard drive. ERROR AT BOOTUP: DISK FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK. The Bios does not find the hard drive, cannot access the compaq's f10 diagnostics either. Wondering if anyone has had problems with the motherboard shorting out the hard drives. I had always thought Quantum was a reliable drive, but Compaq refuses to replace the drive -out of warranty, but not sure that it was actually replaced by service center. The drive booted up for a short time, left machine and in about 10 minutes, froze up, C/A/D keys to reboot and never was able to access the hard drive again. The machine will recognize another hard drive so am pretty sure the drive is probably shot again. Hate to waste another drive if presarios mb have a history of shorting out. Any knowledge available? Thanks for the help
