Compaq Presario 2700 Issue

I have a friend that is bringing the subject notebook in to me to look at. Before I get it I would like some ideas.

He's complaining that after 10 minutes or so the video freaks out and he gets colored lines or pixel blocks on the screen and he has to shut off and restart. I suspect there is an overheating issue because if he lets it sit and cool, it last alittle longer and after the reboot it freezes up with the freaky video within a shorter period of time. I plan to check the CPU and case fans but would like to know if anyone else has any ideas before I crack it open.

If it uses a video card(not a built in video adapter), then reseat it making sure it's fully seated.
