Compaq monitor controls

None of the front controls on my Compaq V70 monitor work: brightness, contrast, vertical/horizontal hold or on/off switch..surely something simple? Any ideas appreciated

I would guess that inside the monitor the board with the micro-switches has come away from it housing - only way to verify my theory is to take the monitor apart though.
