A couple of considerations. I am not extremely familiar with your exact model, so bear with me a bit ;-)
1) From what I see, that model came with apprx 800MB hard drive...? The biggest drive that I can seem to find referenced with that model is a 2.1 GB. It is VERY likely that your laptop will not properly recognize a hard drive that is 10GB. In fact, I would put money on it not working. If you are very lucky, you might be able to use 8GB of that 10GB drive.
2) IF the hard drive works (even at 8GB), then you may require drive overlay software to even access it.
3) If you plan on using your existing info and just puting it onto the new drive then you will need to
a) Pull out the existing hard drive, put it and the new drive into a standard PC to transfer data (using ghost or other program). You would also need an adapter like the one at
OR
b) Use a kit especially made for upgrading your hard drive. These generally use a PC card to hook one hard drive to, and software made to access that drive & transfer the data.
I know that this is not the type of answer that you were looking for, but I hope that it helps! Mudskipper

This link has a bios upgrade that will let you use a 5 gigabyte HDD. If you use a larger drive then you will have to use the disk management software that comes with the HDD such as EZ Bios or On disk track manager.
Good hunting, WPFAFF!! Mudskipper
