please help compaq with voodoo3pci card will not recognize cdplayer its a phillips brand rewritable and theirs another player also thats not recognized and the thing shuts down whenever it wants also pls help

compaq ez2200 shutdown and cd prob plshelp

Compaq's by default have their cd devices set to 'cable select' jumper. Try setting the cdrw to 'master' and the 2nd cd device to 'slave'. Both devices should be attached to the secondary ide controller, away from the hard disk.
As for the random shutdown, that could be any number of things, did it start when you installed the cdrw ?

cd roms not on list anymore not recognized i think its a port prob ive got a compaq ez2200 everythings original except modem memory and video card about 4 yrs old win 98 SE also shuts down when it feels like it started recently lost cd rom drives trying to fix shut down i think PLS HELP
