Compaq DL380 G2 Hard Drive Detection

Hello,

Over here, we are trying to set up a DL380 G2, and are having trouble with the hard drives...and we do not know if it is the rack board, the hard drives itself, etc. When we power on the server, everything runs fine, but the hard drive leds will not stay on. We have used four different new hard drives, and what we get is the led turning on for about 2 seconds, and then blanking out. The server cannot detect the hard drive. Now, when we use a hard drive from an existing server, it works. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Have you configured an array on the server? In theory, the HDDs will not come on until the server is properly configured. The reason another HDD from another server is ok is because it already contains information on the HDD pertaining to a configuration.

Have you StartStarted the server and does that pick up the disks as part of the config? Are you on a RAID controller as well?
