Compaq Array Controller

I've got a situation where I need to install SCO 5.0.6 on a non-Compaq server with a Compaq Smart 2-DH array controller. The OpenServer release notes state that the IDA driver checks to see that the machine is Compaq and says to use the ida.nocheck parameter in the bootstring. I'm going crazy trying to get this to work. I've tried BTLDs, a Smart 3200 controller and nothing seems to work. A Smart Array 4200 works fine since it uses another driver.

Has anyone been able to get a Compaq controller using the IDA driver to work in a non-compaq box?
