Hi guys!
I have a problem with the above notebook. I want to change the original harddisk (2 GB size) with a "new" HD (3 GB size). When I boot with the Compaq Diagnostics floppy and want to create the diagnostics partition, it says that it cannot access the new disk, because it may be write protected and I should proceed with the Setup-Floppy to remove any passwords. When I try so, I cannot change any password settings, because no diagnostic partition has been created...
I tried booting from a Win98 Bootdisk and executed fdisk. I got the error message "Error reading fixed disk". As far as I know the disk should work properly, no defects at all.
When I run "fdisk /status" I get the following on the display:
Disk: 1
Mbytes: 3103
Free: 3103
Usage: %
So I assume that fdisk in fact CAN see the new disk.
I already searched some forums and newsgroup on how I can resolve this issue, but didn't get any further. I'm running now out of ideas...
If anyone has ideas on this, I'd really appreciate that...
Thanks,
Sabine
