A friend had asked me to format their drive and reinstall windows, and they did not possess the restore disc. Upon formatting it and isntalling windows I foud out that the backup is stored on a recovery partition which I could no longer access.

I also discovered afterwards that compaq does not provide drivers for any of their computers; they expect you to use recovery.

This is too little too late for me; I think I have everythimg, except the audio drivers. I cannot play any sound, and media player even gives an error when I try to play music.

I want to try and dl the drivers from somewhere, but I cannot determine the hardware. It is oobaord (on the motherboard) and I cannot determine make of the motherboard.

Is there any way to determine what brand/model the device is?

The compaq is model a1020n.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
