I have a 3000R and can not get it to boot from the CDROM drive. I have the Smart Start 5.3 CD and have placed it in the drive. I get the error that the system disk is invalid. Press enter to continue. I press enter and the A drive clicks on. My question - How do I get the system to boot from the CD?

check if CD is connected inside computer case - I remeber one 1600R wit such problem, if this is a used computer you may need to short-circuit battery to reset boot sequence

I have checked all the cable and have checked every possible item I can see. The system came FDISK'd and seems to boot only to the A drive. How can I set it to boot to CDROM? Remove the battery?

you can make a floppy with "System Erase Utility" from your
SmartStart CD on another PC - it will erase anything system had and boot off the CD

Hi,

Have you gone into the BIOS (f10) on boot and looked at the
boot order for the controllers/disks? You may also require
a BIOS firmware update. When the server boots, check the version date. The latest BIOS for the 3000 is 4.15A 09apr02
If that doesnt work use the System Erase utility and start from scratch.

Regards
B
