Compaq 10101 thin client woes

We have purchaced about 20 used compaq 1010 clients with win nt embedded on them. We cannot reset the terminals to default because every thing has been secured on them. We are running windows CE with ica client. We have tried to download firmware using a parallel port and keep getting the error: Wrong firmware verion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
