Company-wide email messages through/using SharePoint?

Hi Everyone,

I need a means to send customizable (i.e. attachments, embedded images,tables) company-wide email messages through/using SharePoint. An internal communications solution that is robust enough to be editable by a single user but can also be monitored and controlled from IT. External software solutions are welcome but SharePoint involvement is a must!

Can SharePoint do this, yes!

I played with this for a a few minutes and the only part I'm stuck on is adding attachments.

what I did:
Created a list named Send Email.
In the list I created the following fields.
To (Person or Group)
Subject (Single line of text)
Body (Multiple lines of text,Enhanced rich text (Rich text with pictures, tables, and hyperlinks)
Send Email (Yes/No)
Date Email Sent (Date and Time)

Setup a Workflow on the Send Email list.
Step 1
Condition: If Send Email equal Yes
Action: Build Dynamic String
Data Source: Current Item
Field: Body
Return field as: As String
--Output: Variable: vBody

Action: Send an Email
To: Current Item: To
Subject: Current Item: Subject
Body: Variable: vBody (string type)

Action: Update List Item
Field: Date Email Sent = Workflow Context: Date and Time Started
