I have to enforce a company made screensaver on our users machines, however I can't get it to work properly. After the alloted time of no activity, I can see the screensaver try to kick in as the screen flashes, but then it stops working, until the next time increment, when it tries to run again.
I have only been able to make it work after the proper timeout, if the user is an administrator of his local machine. However, if as a basic user, I double click on the screen saver it runs correctly. I have tested the default Windows screensavers as a basic user and they work without a problem after the proper timeout, regardless of local user rights.
I tried creating a HASH rule, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. I have tried giving different types of rights on the screensaver file itself, but it still won't run.
Our users have ZERO rights on their machines. They can look at all the directories, but they are unable to save anything to their "C:\" drive. I have even tried to get the screensaver to run from their homedrive (networked drive with full permissions on the folder) and I can't get it to run.
If I try to run one of the Windows default screensavers, with the same rights as our users have on the %systemroot%\system32 folder, all of the default screensavers run without a hitch.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?
