I have a split database with both the front end and backend on a server. I have about 10 users in this database and have the front end set to "compact on close". Is this OK? Are there any potential problems or bugs that could cause corruption or does access realize that another user has the database open and skip the compact, unless you are the last one out?

I have actually tested this on 2 machines and it appears that the first one to get there runs its compact, then the other one runs when the first one is finished.

It also does not seem to mind that there is someone else in at the time. Maybe it just skips over whatever is in use at the time.

I wish I could help more.
