Compact & Repair in Runtime

I have created a db and am installing using runtime. The compact & repair does not work. Is there any way around this or does compact & repair only work in full Access?

Hi
I tried the Switchboard code suggested here:
Compact and Repair automatically at the start of each day
faq705-4998
with Access 2000, simulating the runtime environment, and it seemed to work.
