Can anyone provide some feedback on whether 'compact on close' is a wise option when working in a multi-user environment?

Compact on close

If you've got a split back end and front end and each user has a copy of the front end exclusively for their use, then you can compact the front end on close.
The back end can not be compacted while any of the users has it open. This can only be done when there is no .ldb file locking the database file open.
