have looked for this on this form but no luck. can anyone tell me the version of software to go from a 4 by 8 to 8 by 24 on a compact ics. and what do i gain on 7,1 software beside daylight saving time. is there a web page to look up nortel software
Each CICS software release is available in 6 editions:
[ul]
[li]Restricted with IRAD Off[/li]
[li]Restricted with IRAD On[/li]
[li]Standard with IRAD Off[/li]
[li]Standard with IRAD On[/li]
[li]Standard with IRAD Off and Automated Attendant Programmable Prompts[/li]
[li]Standard with IRAD On and Automated Attendant Programmable Prompts[/li]
[/ul]
The Restricted edition means that it supports up to 4 lines and 8 stations.
The Standard edition means that it supports up to 16 lines and 24 stations.
The hardware supports up to 16 stations with the Standard edition of the software. If you want to expand from 16 to 24 stations, you will need to install an expansion cartridge into Slot 3 of the CICS.
If you are upgrading your software release from 7.0 to 7.1, then the only new feature is Extended Daylight Savings Time. If you are upgrading from an earlier release, then there are other new features. For each software release, at the beginning of the Installer Guide, there is a "What's new with Norstar" chapter. It lists all the changes and the new features.
Run into this one just a few weeks ago. If your curent software is unrestricted, then all you need is the expansion cartrage. But they come in 3 versions now. 1 for clocking only, 1 for clocking and 8 station expansion, and 1 for just the 8 station expansion. If your pre rls 7, 7 and 7.1 uses a upgrade software tool as well.
not sure what I just got for infor. have a compact ICS with restricted software. only can get lines 1-4. if I buy rel 7 or 7.1 software are they unrestricted. just need to add 4 more lines to system and more station. what is the NT number of the software. I have 4.1 NT7b64na.
thanks
If you 7.1 Standard SIP software, you will be at the latest greatest with everything opened up.
SIP = Standard with IRAD (remote programming/backup) and Prompts (built in CCR).
There maybe several NT part numbers, feel free to post another one for verification if you find one.
As curlycord mentioned, there are several part numbers. As long as it is printed CICS - S (as in Standard, and not CICS - R as in Restricted) on the label of the cartridge, you'll have what you need.
-If going to as far as 4.2 then no tool required.
-If going to 6.0 then you must get to 4.1 or 4.2 via normal software then to 6.0.
-If going to 6.1 then no nothing required period strangely according to the guide, perhaps they just forgot to mention it....good lab test from 1.0 to 6.1 to see.
-If going to 7.X then use the tool when at or prior to 6.0.
I had not known about one either until we tried to upgrade a customer. Nor did I know that they have 3 types of service cartridges until we ordered one and just got the one for clocking with out additional stations. Got to keep up with the doc's.
