compact and repair macro

I am using MS Access 2003 SP3. I want to compact and repair a database when I open it and when I close it. how do i do this?
 
What happened between the time you closed it and the time you opened it that means it need to be compacted again?
 
Maybe I posted the question badley. I just want it to do the compact and repair on either ,preferably on closure as good housekeeping routine. can you help
 
menu Tools -> Options ... -> tab Generel -> Compact on close

Ah but how can I do this automatically say through autoexec macro??
 

You don't need to; once it's turned on it's on until you de-select it.

Having said that, it one of the worst feature Access has ever implemented. Compact and Repair has been frequently cited as a cause of data corruption and should only done after making a backup copy your app.
