When I try to Compact and Repair in Access97 I receive the following error “Record(s) can’t be read; no read permission on C:\Ipayv3.mdb”. This database was created in Access97 but I have recently tried to open it with Access 2007 to take advantage of it’s new features. I have done this before, but with Access 2000 and I was still able to compact and repair in Access97. I tried it in 2000 and 2007 but I also experience errors. Can anyone please help?

is the database secured? If so are you joined to the correct workgroup file and logged in under the correct user name?

Ed Metcalfe.

Yes E2020, the database is secured. And I am joined to the correct workgroup file and logged in under the correct user name. In fact I can open the database and used it as usual, all of the users can. I only get this error when I try to compact and repair.

It almost sounds like someone else has the db open (the icon will have a lock on it).
