We just finished the upgrade from version 7 to version 8 and we are having issues with the new virtual iData Agent. It looks like there are several indexing issues that we are running into. I have been on the phone all week with Dell/Commvault. They have already issued me a patch but we are still having problems. Are we the only ones out there having problems with this iData agent? On paper this agent seemed like a great idea and the tiered licensing seemed like a great savings but as of yet I have not gotten a full backup and restore. I welcome any comments.

What is the virtual idata agent? This a clustered computer?

What is the issue you are having? ours is working with ESX with out any probs.

Can you elaborate on the problems you are having? i am holding off on the v.8.0 upgrade until SP2, but am definitely interested in the virtual iDa. i have about 250 VM's running in ESX3.5 environment and am backing them up with a traditional FS iDa. the new VM iDa sounds great but i would appreciate some feedback.

This issue is now fixed. The problem was resolved with a patch and a permission begin given to my service account.
To answer your question about how the agent works I would say very very well. What do you what to know about its functionality?
