Ok I have a really strange one here. Last week, I had new media delivered to all of my remote locations. All are media agents with either AIT-100, LTO-2 or LTO-3 tape drives. All of the tape drives are set to automatically label the tape unless it has a label. Some labeled, some did not. No big deal, I can select Verify Media from the Commcell and then it will automatically stamp - not a huge deal - I just don't prefer to do it for 38 different sites. Here's the real problem - on 2 of the media agents, when I select to Verify Media, the server crashes and reboots. There is nothing in the event log - no errors at all. I ran a continuous ping to each server and validated this theory 4 times. As soon as I select the command, boom, BSOD. I've changed nothing on either system. The only thing that is different is new media rather than old. I'm usually pretty good at troubleshooting galaxy issues, but this one has me stumped. I've sent the logs into support - waiting to hear back from them now. Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It has to be the driver for the scsi controller or the controller itself. Run TapeToolGUI.exe in the \base on the media agents. Try formatting, reading and writing with this utility. See if you still get the BSOD.

Is a DRWTSN log generated?

I'll look into this tonight after hours - I've had enough reboots for one day believe me.

Thanks for the reply.

Apparently is was driver related, but not the SCSI controller. We looked up some of the stop error codes and one was related to the microsoft stor driver. We updated it after apply SP1 to Windows server 2003 and it corrected the issue on both systems.

Thanks for the help.
