Now , i have a requirment to send a mail from AIX 4.3.3 server to a mail address. How can i send.

Regards

Assuming that you have sendmail running ....

mail sijidhi@yahoo.com
Type message here
. (The . ends the message)

or alternatively if your message is in a file

mail sijidhi@yahoo.com < filename

To check if sendmail is running ...
ps -ef | grep sendmail

YEs iam running sendmail...But iam unable to send the mail not even to my another server which is on network.
Can u Tell some thing about configuring sendmail.Iam not sure how it is configured in our system

Check out the FAQ database I wrote one on configuring sendmail within a Lotus Notes environment.

Cheers

hi,
edit ur /etc/sendmail.cf at the entries for the remarked section "local host" and insert:
Dw<hostname>
DD<domain>
Cwlocalhost <hostname>
###example:
Dwzeus1
DDolymp.com
Cwlocalhost zeus1

edit or create if not already there a /etc/netsvc.conf with following content:
host = local

edit /etc/resolv.conf and add
search <domain>
nameserver <ip>
###example:
search olymp.com
nameserver 192.168.0.1

if no DNS-server exists, make equivalent entries into ur /etc/hosts like so that the DNS-server and the hosts u want to mail to are known to your machine and reachable.

i hope that will help,

later
zaxxon
