Hello,

I'm using XI. I can schedule reports just fine from my app but when I try to view a report I get this error:

"Communication error occurred when trying to connect to server TREESLOTH.cacheserver.cacheserver"

I've checked my Windows services and the cach server is running. Can someone please give some advise on how to figure out what's going on? Just let me know and I'll provide any more details. Thanks!!!

What user is it running under? If it's network service or something like that try giving it a machine administrator instead, just a guess.

Hi,
Also the name looks odd..I have never seen the .cacheserver.cacheserver added to the machine name, usually it would be
TREESLOTH.cacheserver

Check the server's status in the CMC, not just in the Window's services..

Ok, I've checked the Central Configuration Manager and all the servers are enabled (including the cache server). I even restarted them. I guess I could reinstall Business Objects XI but I'm not sure it'll make things work any better. I'm not sure what to try next. I really appreciate the feedback. Any more ideas?

Hi,
Intead of that, stop the existing Cacheserver and create a new one using the crystal Configuration Manager..Start and enable that one and see if it helps..
( Do not start the one that is not working)..

Well I created a new cache server using the Configuration Manager. Thanks for the tip. Now I know a bit more about what you can do with that app.

After creating and using the new cache server, I still received the same error. I decided to install service pack 2. Then when I tried to view a report, it displayed perfectly.

I did recieve errors during the service pack install saying that it couldn't self-register or unregister libOCAHelper-2-13.dll which doesn't give me the confidence I'd like to have when we put this thing into production. However at least it's working for now.

I thought the help I recieved from this forum was great. Thanks.
