Anyone using Peachtree to paysales personell? I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to calculate commissions on line items and then having it roll to payroll? We have 20 sales reps that are selling varrious products with different commision %? Any help would be appriciated.

Regards,

Peachtree does a lousy job of this, but then again so does most software. Your solution is crystal reports. Did you buy Crystal Reports for Peachtree? Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Yep.. Crystal is my only option the issue is now deciding how to handle mupltiple commission %'s for each item. I have to store the information somewhere, rather than calculate it on the fly. Anyone know if Peachtree has open records for custom data? Or if you can create a simple view of sorts in their database?

Peachtree is a Btrieve database (about 8 a year old version) and you connect to it directly or though pervasive ODBC. Pervasive ODBC does not come with Peachtree. In fact Pervasive does not even support the version of Btrieve that Peachtree works on.

You will find the peachtree database to be anything but user friendly. You need to print out you file definitions from peachtree, and EVERY transaction is in the JrnlHdr and JrnlRow files. The JrnlRow Type is the key to getting your data - in your case you want the sales data, which you will manipulate to get commission dollars. The file definitions I mentioned will help you with this, in fact without them thi is pretty much impossible.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
