Hi All,

I have just installed oracle 11g on sun solaris machine. I have a command in my .profile as

export ORACLE_HOME=/export/home/oracle11/11.1.0.6

after i login to the machine, when i type echo $ORACLE_HOME it is not showing up anything. But when i execute the same command from the command prompt and after that if i give echo $ORACLE_hOME, it is showing up the value.

Can any body guide me how to get this .profile work?

Is this in the oracle user's home directory, and which shell is used by the oracle user?

I want to be good, is that not enough?

thanks for the reply kencunningham.
Yes, I am using oracle user home directory.

after i enter to my home directory, if i try to give export command, it is saying command not found. if i enter sh, then the prompt is shwoing bash. It means this may be using bash shell. at this point if i give export command, it is executing that command properly.

thanks,
Vasu.

What is the entry for the oracle user in /etc/passwd?

I want to be good, is that not enough?
