Recently I setup a new V480 and I noticed after ftp'ing
a file to it from a local host, all the commands issued to the V480 got a slow response.

EXAMPLE

two hosts: V480 and Ultra5

1. open a telnet session from the Ultra5 to the V480
2. ftp a file from the Ultra5 to the V480
3. Issue a bye and exited the ftp session
4. If I do a ls command from the Ultra5 to the V480
the command is really slow. I can duplcated this
from another host as well. Only the V480 is slow!
5. If I reboot the V480 and open a telnet session the
command are fast.

All recommended patches to Solaris 8 are applied.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Run "top" (you may need to install it). Find out if anything is eating up the CPU, I/O, memory ... etc.

What happens if you do the commands locally from V480 console? Is it still slow from there as well? If not you may have network issues. Run "ping", "traceroute" (may need to install), ... etc.
