Hi,

I plan to reboot a SUN box and I see some people logging in. What is the command I can use to find out if anybody is doing anything?

Thanks,

If you have "[tt]top[/tt]" installed, it will show programs and activity. If you want to see what people are running, the "[tt]ps -fe[/tt]" command will show you their command line. The command "[tt]/usr/ucb/ps -auxwww[/tt]" will show you their whole command line.

Hope this helps.

If you have Solaris > 8 then you can use the prstat command it is similar to top, but comes with Solaris by default.

A couple of commands:-
finger -i
Login TTY When Idle
userpts/1 Mon Jun 27 11:34 1 hour 44 minutes
userpts/2 Mon Jun 27 15:33 17 seconds
will show if user session is idle

w -l
might be useful, can highlight a cmd in use
